Tư Tưởng Nhân Văn Trong Thơ Nguyễn Du

Truyện Kiều, composed by Nguyễn Du in the early nineteenth century, stands as the most celebrated work in the Vietnamese literary canon. Its enduring appeal rests not only on its formal virtuosity but on its sustained engagement with questions of human suffering, moral responsibility, and the limits of individual agency under unjust social conditions.

The poem's protagonist, Thúy Kiều, navigates a series of degradations imposed by social structures she cannot control. Yet the poem refuses simple victimhood: Kiều's choices, her moments of resistance and accommodation, her relationships with other characters, all carry moral weight.

Scholars have read Truyện Kiều as a vehicle for Nguyễn Du's own experience of political displacement following the Tây Sơn uprising and the establishment of the Nguyễn dynasty.
