Cử Tri Đoàn (electoral college) bất công nội tại như thế nào

Cử Tri Đoàn, Electoral College, có bất công nội tại :

Mỗi Thượng Nghị Sĩ của một bang vùng giữa (Middle America)chỉ đại diện cho vài trăm ngàn dân,
trong khi mỗi Thượng Nghị Sĩ của một bang lớn có thể đại diện cho 20 triệu dân !

Để cân bằng tỉ số đại diện dân, ta có thể gộp các bang ít dân làm một,
thí dụ gộp North vào South Dakota làm 1 bang, và gộp Wyoming vào Montana làm 1 bang !
Trong khi đó ta có thể tách mỗi bang lớn như New York, California và New Jersey - ra thành 3 bang.

Có hai Tổng Thống đảng Cộng Hòa thua phiếu phổ thông, mà vẫn được lên làm Tổng Thống, vì vậy đảng Cộng Hòa vẫn muốn giữ lại hệ thống cử tri đoàn cổ hủ, bất hợp thời, để tăng khả năng thắng cử Tổng Thống .

Thật ra, có 5 Tổng Thống Mỹ bị thua phiếu phổ thông,
mà vẫn được cử tri đoàn bầu chọn làm TT !!! :

Electoral College Issue ?

Walter Williams column is such current Republican conservative NONSENSE ("The Electoral Collage Debate: Don't kid yourself, we are not a democracy" Friday).

All the middles states of the U.S. are just a bunch of big cut-out squares
where senators represent a few hundred thousand people.
A (each) California senator represents 20 million people.

Why do we need a North and South Dakota ?
Put them together (in one state !).
There's only 600,000 people in the whole state of Wyoming
- just make it in a bigger square and attach it to Montana
(and make them ONE state !).
That would push the new state up to a whopping 2.5 million people,
or less than one-third (1/3) the population of Long Island (a borough of New York).

Then, while we're at it,
let's turn California into 3 states : North, Central and South California.
Same for Florida.
And New Jersey has been begging for this (sub-division) for years.
May be that would balance out the senator equation in Congress.

This current concept of the Electoral College
has NOTHING to do with what the Founding Fathers created it for.
- It's just as antiquated as the Second Amendment
(the right for every civilian to bear arms, even it they are not in militia).

But because it got two Republican presidents elected
who LOST THE POPULAR VOTE
- guess who is in favor of keeping it
(the backward looking Republicans themselves !)
