Tám giáo phận Công giáo Mỹ đã nộp đơn xin bảo hộ phá sản trong khi cuộc khủng hoảng lạm dụng tình dục đang diễn ra trong Giáo hội Công giáo: Portland OR, San Diego CA, Tucson AZ, Davenport IA, Spokane WA, Fairbanks AK, Wilmington DE (bao gồm các bộ phận của MD), và Milwaukee WI.
